Summer of Cheap starts June 4th!

Why June 4th? Well, that's the day after my final day of work, AKA the last day I'll draw a paycheck. I'm a teacher in California, and as you may have heard, our educational system has serious budget issues. As a result, half the teachers at my school have been laid off. I'm the low girl on the totem pole, so I was given the axe.

June 4th also signifies the first day I'll have endless freetime to do as I please. Hmm, loads of free time but no income. What's a girl to do? Those who know me would verify that I have a knack for sniffing out a deal. Not just cheap garbage and dollar menu deals (although I'll admit I AM a fan of dollar menus!), but legit, awesome, nobody believes it's real kind of deals.

I've set this goal for myself: Spend no more than $25/week on entertainment. That means movies, sporting events, concerts, eating at restaurants, etc. Does that mean those things end for me? No. I've gotta get creative, that's all. This will be an opportunity to do new, fun things! A free week of Irish dancing? I'm in! Someone handed you free Angels tickets but you can't go? I can! You're headed to a free concert and have an empty seat in your car? Sure, I'll join you!

And so it begins, the Summer of Cheap. Stay posted for my inexpensive - and FREE! - adventures!
